Maybe we should have a subordinate club, Musconetcong Bird Watching Club! Last visit (July 1), to hot to fish, just stopped by to take stream temp. After a loud splash, had an Osprey fly by a little above eye level with a rainbow in tow. After a stretch of cool night temps., I decided to stop by with intention of fishing. After an 1 1/2 hrs and nothing seen ( fished my favorite stretch that over 20 years was always loaded with fish), took temp and gave up. It was time, temp had gone up to 70 and then I saw the only action. About 100 yds below the picnic table, an adult eagle splashed and flew off with his catch. I surely don’t know if it’s the loss of cover, depth,(poaching or predation), or temp, that caused the fish to seek out spring influence of cold water and leave that stretch. Now I may have miss some, but never have I waded, fished that whole stretch (forget the formal name, along corn field) and not seen a fish. Anyway, where else can you see the diversity of wildlife, no humans or vehicles and get away from it all? Will always love Asbury for this. Jack
