Finally! Some great conditions. After a 3 day excursion out to Trout Town, AKA Roscoe NY my Son and I decided to give the Asbury stretch a go to conclude our mini vacation. Let me start by saying we had a phenomenal couple days on the Beaver Kill. March Browns and Sulphurs were abundant and the Trout were taking them, size 8 and 10’s, I could even see them. LOL. It was Son’s first time seeing a hatch like that and caught his first Dry fly trout, needless to say he’s HOOKED… Back to the Club. Arrived 5/25 around 11am to an empty lot 🤔. Started at the BC, no rising fish but a nice push of water running around 240CFS and crystal clear. The fish were hungry, taking a Prince Nymph on the swing go figure, they wanted nothing to do with it on the dead drift, the minute it started swinging BOOM! A nice mix of clean Browns and Rainbows. Headed to Beatty’s and continued to catch. Flys that produced included the Golden Retriever, Prince Nymph and the Hares Ear Blowtorch. Did see a few Caddis in the air but nothing rising, wasn’t the greatest time of the day though, hopefully somebody was there to see the evening hatch. Finished up around 3:30 and called it a day. Wish everyone a nice Holiday weekend and see you on the river!
