The Musky is running high — 520 cfs — due in part to recent rains but mainly to the drawdown of Lake Hoptatcong, 23 miles upstream from our Asbury waters. This is the major drawdown of 5 feet / 60 inches that occurs once every five years in early fall so homeowners can repair their docks and seawalls. It will continue for the rest of October. The river level at Bloomsbury appears to be dropping slowly, about 100 cfs every 36 hours, so it’s possible that by this weekend the Musky will be running in a fishable range of 200-250 cfs. This assumes no more rain in the next few days (although there’s a chance of thunderstorms and showers).
