Haven’t posted anything in a while so thought I’d throw some thoughts out there. First and foremost I hope all our members and their families are healthy and hanging in there through all this craziness. I would also like to Thank Mike and Rowlie for all the work and effort they have put in this season to get things rolling. Now, when is Spring really going to get here? Temperatures have been quite cool, which I’d imagine will prolong any significant warmup of water temps in the near future. After a few weeks of some crazy Caddis hatches it seems as though things have slowed a bit. Being more of a “Knuckle Dragging” Nympher who struggles with the floating bugs, this doesn’t affect my catch ratio too much LOL. Nymphing has been productive on some days and not as much on others, but I suppose that’s fishing, right? Some of my more successful patterns have been Green Caddis from 14’s down to 18’s, Zebra Midges down to 20’s and Utah Killer Bugs in a size 12. I’ve noticed an uptick of activity at Asbury with quite a few guys getting time in which is great to see, lots of new faces thanks to Mike and Rowlie’s recruiting efforts. Had the pleasure of sharing a stretch recently with Mik Barna who always seems to manage a good catch. He and I had spoke about some runs that we both struggle on, and I’m happy to report we had some success. Lets keep our fingers crossed for more hatches and some better weather in the near future.
Tight lines all, catchem up!
John
