John MillerParticipantJim, wishing you a speedy recovery. Will you be attending the dinner on March 29th? Hope to see you there.
John MillerParticipantSame results Monday with quite a few looking up after 10am! Best day of fly fishing I’ve ever had……….
John MillerParticipantAnthony, I just saw the first confirmed King came out of the DSR today! It’s on its way………
John MillerParticipantHaven’t been out since the 15th. Been catching up on some Fluke fishing in the Atlantic. Was actually fortunate enough to fish with a great group of friends in the Grandpa Savino tournament based out of Staten Island Tuna Club, we brought home $9500 placing 3rd overall with 3 fish 18.5 lbs and winning the 2 fish Calcutta at 14.5lbs! What a day. With the cool down I’m hoping to get out Friday if levels drop below 400, fingers crossed.
John
John MillerParticipantJim, on a side note my Son Justin had his first fishing article published this month in On The Water magazine. At 17 years young I’m quite proud of him. Topic was Raritan River Smallmouth fishing from a teen’s perspective.
John
John MillerParticipantGerald, I don’t believe there should be any adverse effects from the lake algae. I would say levels are still above normal flows and will most likely still be off color so plan accordingly. Best of luck!
John MillerParticipantUPDATE 1060 BLOWN OUT
John MillerParticipantI missed this last week. As always thanks for the update Anthony. After stocking yesterday Mike Leta and I stuck around and did some fishing. We started at the Warren Glen stretch then moved over to Asbury. Picked fish everywhere with great flow but a bit stained. Asbury seemed to be a bit clearer. Handful of fish fell for a Tungsten jig Nymph with some resemblance to a PT with the exception of a collar of UV ice dub in a shrimp/orange color. Hit Beatty’s in the evening and with no rising fish swung a heavy Golden Retriever and found a couple large, hungry guys. Taping out at 17” and 19”….. Was worth the walk! Looks like level shot up to close to 600 but I believe it should retreat quick. Cab’t Wait to get back out there! Tight lines Gents….
John MillerParticipantGlad to hear they were chewing. I fished Wednesday morning and experienced the same Grannom activity and saw 2 rises. Wish I could report the same success but I came up short only losing one nice colored up Bow on a Bugger. River really shaped up nice. Sad to hear we have visitors but not much we can do about it. See you out the Anthony.
John MillerParticipantJim, always look forward to fish and learn from the pros. Great part of this sport is you’re always learning!!!!!
John MillerParticipantAnthony, it’s been a busy winter. I’ve been averaging 3-4 outings a week. Lots of tying and learning new fly’s in between. Let’s try to get out soon!
John MillerParticipantAnthony, keys get together after the New Year! South Branch has been running beautiful. Keep in touch…
John Miller
John MillerParticipantStill plugging away on my local waters and having some decent success! Saw Musky under 400 today that’s a first in about a month. Maybe the drainage is coming to an end……
John MillerParticipantI believe the October stocking is last of the year. Your best bet would be to reach out to Mike Leta or Rowlie.
